Stanley Tasmania is said to be the cutest town in all of Australia and that is very accurate. The town is rich in old Australian architecture including the Ships Inn which has been lovingly restored by the current owners. Not only are the rooms cozy and warm, they have a contemporary flair that adds to the Inn's charm. The best part is the back yard which has multiple terraces, gorgeous stone walls and flowering plants galore. A perfect place to have morning coffee or an evening cocktail. A laundry (free) is tucked into an old adjacent stable along with a well equipped gym. The views out over the harbor and pier below are splendid. It's the place to stay if your adventure takes you to this small town at the end of a peninsula and below The Nut.

This is beautifully renovated historical accommodation filled with touches of history and homemade care. Everything was very clean and comfortable; it was also well-located to stroll to The Nut, Tallows Beach and Stanley's restaurants, cafes, wine bar, etc. The pots of yoghurt and rhubarb, fresh bread, and other daily breakfast provisions were delicious. We didn't make much use of the facilities outside our room, but they were lovely - a well-equipped gym, a beautiful communal living room, and a landscaped garden. We based ourselves here for four nights, spending our days hiking and exploring the NW - loved the whole experience and staying at the Ship Inn Stanley was a big part of that.

Everything about this property was quite simply lovely! All the extra touches were noticeable and luxurious- from comfortable beds and beautiful bathrooms to generous breakfast provisions that were scrumptious. We were very well looked after, particularly after a slight hiccup on our entry. Alistair went above and beyond to make us happy, along with Josh who helped us to settle in. Bottles of wine on offer, were an added bonus to enjoy, after a long days drive. The rooms and property’s garden were truly stunning. Along with the town of Stanley & surroundings, we found it all so quaint, friendly, helpful and the restaurants and cafes were welcoming with delicious meals. We would highly recommend visiting this property and village - you won’t be sorry. The owners pride is evident. We’ll be back.

This was our second trip to the Ship Inn Stanley and this time we stayed for six nights this time. Alistair and Kerry are amazing hosts and make you feel so welcome. We returned to the Van Diemen’s apartment again and did a lot more cooking this time and it worked really well. You can’t help but be mesmerised by the gardens and we other guests said they were inspired by our sunset drinks, book ready and snacks in the garden it made them want to come out and enjoy! The apartment is spacious with great views and good wi-fi which helped because I had to work one of the days. If we asked for something Alistair was incredibly responsive and we really enjoyed talking to him. From meeting the locals, going to Smithton for Tarkine Oysters, or the local Providore for some amazing Tassie wines and cheese - the area is beautiful, friendly and accessible - we even saw a Tasmanian devil when we were out and about (in the wild). Even going a second time, I would be happy for Stanley and the Ship inn the be another home away from home. We were tempted to never leave and starting exploring real estate hahaha. Is there any improvements - nothing that would stop me returning….and I would like Netflix and a milk frother in the apartment if I am there for longer stays.
