Cape Grim is the north-western point of Tasmania – an isolated apex with a turbulent history. Its foreboding name represents dark struggles of the past that have been eclipsed by astounding powers of redemption.
The Cape stands in rugged isolation, a magnificent bastion of natural beauty stained by the horrid wretchedness of man. However, she is also a beacon of beauty and purity, with the cleanest air on earth travelling across untouched oceans to seek refuge upon her lonely shores. Sailors hold fast to their respect for these unforgiving latitudes knowing that the fierce winds of the Roaring Forties have been the demise of many who dared face her ruthless soul.
With breathtaking natural beauty, Cape Grim is now home to an important weather station that captures some of the cleanest air on earth. Winds from Antarctica and across the Indian Ocean meet no other significant land mass before reaching our shores. Cape Grim Cottage is so named to pay its respects to the poignant history of its namesake and its re-emergence as a place of unique purity.

Each tastefully decorated suite features an ensuite, kitchenette with a toaster, coffee pod machine, kettle, microwave, bar fridge and crockery. Your stay includes a simple continental breakfast of fresh baked bread, Tasmanian jams & leatherwood honey, toasted muesli, rhubarb compote, poached apple, Greek yoghurt, milk, juice, and a selection of artisan Tasmanian teas and coffee pods.
