Barbarous syncopated rhythms blare from the gramophone. The boards of the floor reverberate with the same tattoo that rings in my head. Fogged by the devils drink, I ricochet off the whirling couples as they dance through the blanket of smoke.
The ‘Bayview’ suite pays homage to the inn’s time trading as The Bayview Hotel and its iconic bar which operated for over a century. Its history welcoming travelers from near and far is riddled with tales of raucous laughter and mischievous merriment.
We imagine the stories that have unfolded in this very cabaret room. If the walls could talk, they would share vibrant tales of the Shamrock Inn, Ship Inn, Stanley Hotel and Bayview Hotel – its many varied personas over time. The stories guarded by licensees over the decades’ past have fallen silent, leaving us to piece together rare glimpses from the morsels left behind as smashed crockery, wallpaper fragments, rusty horseshoes and broken bottles. We pay homage to these men and women, custodians from eras past.

Each tastefully decorated suite features an ensuite, kitchenette with a toaster, coffee pod machine, kettle, microwave, bar fridge and crockery. Your stay includes a simple continental breakfast of fresh baked bread, Tasmanian jams & leatherwood honey, toasted muesli, rhubarb compote, poached apple, Greek yoghurt, milk, juice, and a selection of artisan Tasmanian teas and coffee pods.
Enjoy in the privacy of your suite or take in the fresh salt air and views on the veranda, which is accessed directly from your suite.
